Day 1 - Feral Kittens arrived

New arrivals!

I am a volunteer forsterer for Cat Action Trust - part of their work is taming and re homing feral kittens.

We took receipt of three tabby and one black 8week old kittens on 23rd November, and ensconced them into their home for the next few weeks - a large cage, complete with be, litter tray, food and water bowls and toys!

The kittens are pretty much completely wild, so all we can do is to quickly open the cage to replenish the food and water, and change the liter etc. All we see are four pairs of frightened wide eyes peering at us!

However .....

We have a secret weapon at our disposal!! Which comes in the shape of a large white cat known as Leghorn !! He saunters into the room in the hope of getting some ill-gotten food - and seems to be the 'daddy' figure to the kittens ! They venture shyly out, one even put her paw through the cage and prodded him! They seem to like him, and he is so docile and quiet, accepting of their curiosity. He is a great asset to the fostering team!

DAY 2

Frightened but hungry!

Well as frightened as they are, and skittish - they came out to eat this morning whilst i was sat by the cage - I was viewed with much suspicion and trepidation but a whole bowl of food was soon demolished!

I noticed that the toys had all been moved and one was demolished! Aha so they are playing overnight, which is a good sign indeed. We added a large scratch post this afternoon complete with dangle toy.
